Join us for DAAR’s Annual Economic Summit at Loudoun County School Administration Building, 21000 Education Court, Ashburn, VA. The event offers an opportunity for REALTORS® in the Northern Virginia and Loudoun County area to understand housing and economic trends and forecast for 2022 and beyond. Continental Breakfast included.

Danushka Nanayakkara-Skillington

Danushka Nanayakkara-Skillington is NAHB Assistant Vice President for Forecasting and Analysis. She oversees the activities of the Forecasting & Analysis section of the Economics group which includes housing market analysis, industry surveys, developing and maintaining national, regional, long-term, and remodeling expenditures forecasts. Before being promoted to Assistant Vice President, she worked at NAHB as a Senior Economist, responsible for state and local analysis. Prior to joining NAHB, Danushka worked at J.D. Power as a Senior Economic Analyst in the automotive industry. She holds a B.A. degree in Economics and Business Administration from Otterbein University and M.A. degree in Applied Economics from Johns Hopkins University. 

Buddy Rizer

BUDDY RIZER, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, LOUDOUN COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
Buddy Rizer serves as the Executive Director for economic development in Loudoun County, Virginia, which was named the 2021 Economic Development Organization of the Year by the International Economic Development Council. He leads the agency responsible for encouraging growth and developing relationships with Loudoun’s business community in both the commercial and agricultural-based business sectors.  During his tenure, Rizer and his team have attracted more than $35 billion in new investment and tens of thousands of new jobs. 
Mr. Rizer has been named a Tech Titan 5 times by Washingtonian Magazine, has been named one of the 50 most influential Virginians 4 times by Virginia Business Magazine, and was named to the Washington Business Journal’s Power 100 as one of the most influential businesspeople in Washington, DC. 
Mr. Rizer serves as the Chair of the Northern Virginia Community College Foundation Board and is the Secretary of the Go Virginia Region 7 Council.  He is on the Board of Directors for the Northern Virginia Technology Council and is a founding member of the Northern Virginia Economic Development Alliance.
Mr. Rizer is a certified economic developer and a graduate of Virginia Tech's Local Government Management Graduate Certificate Program.

Dr. Lisa Sturtevant

Dr. Sturtevant has been involved in research on economic, demographic, and housing market issues for more than 20 years. She currently serves as Chief Economist with Bright MLS, one of the largest multiple listing services in the country, serving over 100,000 subscribers across 6 states and the District of Columbia. In her role, she leads research and forecast activities for Bright, serving as a thought leader on the housing market. 

Prior to her position at Bright MLS, Dr. Sturtevant was Chief Economist with Virginia REALTORS®. She was founder and president of LSA Planning, a housing consulting firm, and has served in other research capacities at non-profit organizations and universities.

Dr. Sturtevant completed her PhD in public policy from George Mason University, a master’s degree in public policy from the University of Maryland, and a BS in mathematical economics from Wake Forest University.

CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY

Cancellations & cancellation requests for paid education will be accepted through 5:00 p.m. three business days preceding each class and a full refund will be issued. Cancellations after the deadline will forfeit class registration fee. DAAR members who register for FREE Virginia CE classes, and neither attend nor cancel with DAAR within 48 hours of the class start time, will receive a no-show fee of $20 to their account.

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Class will begin promptly at the time noted. Students may not miss more than five minutes per credited hour. Students missing more than allotted time for class will be automatically disqualified from receiving class CE/PLE credit. Those students who have paid but have missed more than the allotted minutes are welcome to sit in but will not receive CE/PLE credit for the class. Moreover, if a student is disqualified because they are late or misses more than allotted time, no refund will be granted.

LATE REGISTRATION POLICY

Registration closes 2 hours before the stated class start time. DAAR welcomes attendees up to the minute class begins.  A $5 fee will be assessed to late registrants.
