Real estate agents, to be truly professional, should have a basic understanding of the complete settlement process, including title insurance. Often title or settlement agents turn to the real estate agent for assistance obtaining information from the Seller or Purchaser. Sellers and purchasers, generally having a stronger relationship with the Realtor than any other individual in the process of selling or buying a home, will look to the Realtor to explain the basics of how the whole sales/purchase process will work. When settlement is delayed they want to know why. Often the consumer will be more satisfied with an explanation from their Realtor than from the settlement agent or title agent. The better the Realtor understands the process, the better they can communicate with the consumer.
